Mohammed Helal Al Balooshi, Marketing & Communications Acting Director at Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), said: “QCC’s association with the Light Festival 2015 highlights the significance of this interdisciplinary event in educating youth on the importance of light in sustaining life on our planet. Our collaboration with UAE University also demonstrates our priority to educate university and schools students about the role of metrology and its various applications in enhancing the competitiveness of our country's economy.”

He added: “At QCC, we are keen to support our leadership’s vision of encouraging students from the engineering, physics, mathematics and chemistry disciplines to hone their skills and become the successful innovators and achievers of tomorrow.

“Through our sponsorship of this event, we seek to establish a long-term collaboration with the UAE University in the area of research and development involving scientific applications related to the measurements. We are also keen to leverage this participation to meet our recruitment demands for graduates specialized in scientific disciplines, particularly for areas related to the core functions of Emirates Metrology Institute (EMI) in the development of cutting-edge metrology infrastructure.”

The Emirates Metrology Institute was established by QCC to provide internationally accredited calibration services to local entities and ensure accurate and internationally compatible measurements in the UAE. EMI facilitates international recognition of the UAE metrology system, provides appropriate information to the public about the national metrology system and offers consultancy to relevant national bodies, industry and the public on metrological issues and on the importance of measurements.
