AD Community Police Section Targets Non-Arabic Speaking Students With Tawassol Initiative
(21 August 2015)

The Department of Community Police at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters launched the “Tawassol” Initiative for non-Arabic speaking students enrolled in private schools. The initiative aims to teach students the societal values and the Arab and Islamic heritage, to help them better integrate into society, as per the strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Education Council.

Major Bahyan Hamad Al Ameri, Chief of the Community Police Affairs Section at the department, said:  “As a part of the initiative, a highly qualified and specialized team has been commissioned with the task of communicating with the different age groups of Prep and High School students by organizing field trips, holding lectures in order to inculcate the spirit of cooperation in students and build healthy social relations between them. This approach is also intended to enhance their relation with their communities by ensuring a proper understanding of the social values and heritage, which are derived from the authentic Arab and Islamic values and traditions.”

Major Al Ameri also noted that the Community Police Affairs Section is organizing specialized lectures, including a wide array of cultural and educational programs, to provide students with information about the fundamentals of proper social conduct and legal guidelines. The programs also shed the light on the unique customs and traditions of the Emirati society, as well as the rules for appropriate behavior, and educational lessons about traffic, safety, first aid and services provided to the public by the Abu Dhabi Police.

It is worth mentioning that the Community Police Affairs Section has already made 47 educational and cultural participations during the first half of the year, which benefited as many as 3015 community members.
