Abu Dhabi’s beachgoers are being encouraged to take part in a safety campaign being launched by the Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM).
The Beaches Safety Campaign, which starts on August 23, will take place on the Corniche and Bateen, and will run for three days.
The safety initiative is aimed at raising awareness among the general public on the importance of heeding to health and safety standards when visiting the beach.
As part of the campaign, participants are given booklets teaching them how to perform first aid in cases of drowning and sunburns, as well as how to cope with heat stress. As part of the event, free medical check ups and health tips are also available.
Lessons on safe swimming, including swimming with children, and dealing with potentially dangerous marine life are also offered to beachgoers.
The municipality explained that the aim behind the project is to ensure the safety of all visitors who go to the beach, and is in line with the municipality’s goal of delivering world-class municipal services for both residents and tourists.
The municipality added that both beaches on the Corniche and Bateen have seen thousands of visitors, and has become a popular tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi.
Several other organisations are also helping with the safety drive, including the General HQ of Abu Dhabi Police, Universal Hospital, and Massafi among others.
