The capital city got its first private women and children's hospital last week.

The opening of Danat Al Emarat (DAE), the speciality hospital, coincided with the 49th anniversary of the late president Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's ascension to power - a day considered by many to be the birth of modern UAE.

Danat Al Emarat, which was set-up as a one-stop-shop to offer a comprehensive medical services for women and children, is owned by United Eastern Medical Services (UEMedical), the leading privately-owned Healthcare Development and Investment Company in Abu Dhabi, and managed by Parkway Health.

Cheow Seng Lee, CEO of Danat Al Emarat Hospital said: "We are delighted to welcome patients into our world-class hospital facility. Today not only marks our opening day but the anniversary of the ascension of the late Shaikh Zayed to the throne as Ruler of Abu Dhabi Emirate. We have deliberately chosen this very special date for the opening to once again demonstrate our commitment in continuing Shaikh Zayed and his successor The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's, vision of developing the health care sector in the emirate to offer citizens and residents a better quality of life."

The hospital has separate centres for obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, neonatology, surgery, woman diagnostic and breast imaging, as well comprehensive outpatient services in general and internal medicine, a 24 hour walk-in clinic, laboratory and imaging. In addition, it offers mothers additional support during pregnancy, such as antenatal classes and massage, to ease their difficulties during pregnancy. Besides, the hospital offers a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that can care for babies who are born prematurely.

Located between the two bridges (Bain Al Jesrain) area along Khaleej Al Arabi Street, Danat Al Emarat has150 beds and a VIP floor with five VIP Suites, two Royal Suites and a Presidential Suite offering a luxurious experience to patients. It also houses ten delivery suites and four major operating theatres.
