A labour court in Abu Dhabi sided with a worker at a local company and ordered his employer to pay him Dh100,000 compensation as a one-year salary.
The employee, who had resigned from his position as an accountant due to mistreatment, told court that he decided to quit after he felt that the company owner was watching him because he suspected him.
The owner admitted he was watching his accountant but insisted he had paid him all his wages, a claim rebuffed by the employee.
“The employee was made by court to take the oath and declare that he was not paid for one year… After he did, the court ordered the employer to pay him Dh100,000,” the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm said.
