The Holy moonth of Ramadan is a time for reflection and giving. It is a time to not only abstain from food and drink but to also abstain from all wrongdoings and practice being good human beings. In our multicultural setup it is very important to create awareness among our young ones about the importance of Ramadan and Repton School Abu Dhabi has undertaken many initiatives to educate pupils and their parents alike.
A Ramadan Awareness session was conducted at the premises of Repton Abu Dhabi to give parents an insight into the Holy month. The session highlighted the significance of Ramadan for Muslims and also included essential dos and don’ts for the blessed month. The session aimed at building cross-cultural understanding and to provide an insight into the traditions and customs practiced during Ramadan.
In addition to the above pupils of Year 1 and Year 2 ran an Islamic Assembly to create awareness among their peers about the Holy month. They conducted plays which included; acting as a Ramadan Sighting Committee and another where they acted as a family discussing different facts related to Ramadan.
The school also plans to hold an Iftar for its pupils and their families encouraging attendees to bring dishes that they usually enjoy in Ramadan. To celebrate the spirit of giving and sharing the Iftar will be a potluck, which will be enjoyed by all after sunset.
