The Air Wing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police has organised an educational lecture on heat-related disorders and methods of prevention and treatment. The lecture, held at the department headquarters’ auditorium, was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Adel Ibrahim, Aviation and Internal Medicine Doctor at the Air Wing Department of the Abu Dhabi Police.
Dr. Ibrahim gave an overview of the different types and causes of heat-related disorders that people may sustain, in addition to the symptoms that should be monitored, including the symptoms and treatment of heatstroke (sunstroke). He encouraged pilots to maintain physical fitness and proper nutrition, and called on them to practice good sleep hygiene to make sure they carry out their duties efficiently, stressing that prevention is better than cure.
Dr. Ibrahim also answered the audience’s questions and inquiries, and provided advice and guidance about fasting in high temperatures during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The lecture is part of a set of lectures organised by the Air Wing Department for the benefit of staff members about the environment, health, and safety topics.
