The Ministry of Interior has launched the Innovation Lab, in line with the wise leadership‘s announcement of 2015 as the year of innovation in the UAE.
The innovation lab aims to develop innovative solutions to the different challenges facing UAE society that are closely related to the ministry’s tasks. The lab also allows community members to submit their suggestions and ideas via social networking sites to be discussed in search for innovative, practical, and pragmatic solutions.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, explained, "The innovation lab concept is a response to the Ministry of Interior’s directives on the need to adopt purposeful proposals submitted by community members and discuss the possibility of successfully implementing them, so as to enhance the services provided by the police to the public and upgrade these services in the best possible way."
He also noted that members of the public will be briefed on the lab’s objectives, and they will be invited to submit their proposals through the ministry’s social networking sites, in order to identify the main challenges that face the public and launch the process for generating the appropriate innovative ideas to overcome the selected challenges.
"The ideas would be then analysed and examined during specialised and interactive meetings and workshops that will be organised in the next few months," said Major General Al Nuaimi.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director-General at the Ministry of Interior, indicated that the initial phase for activating the innovation lab will commence soon with the launch of the hashtag #TheInnovation-Lab-of the Ministry-of-Interior through the ministry’s pages on social media websites.
