The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Policies Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), discussed policy governance and management during a specialised workshop organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The workshop, organised in collaboration with the MoHESR, was held at Aloft Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, explained that the workshop falls within the plans to exchange expertise and knowledge between the country’s institutions to enhance the quality of life in the UAE community, through effective communication and transparency in the provision of distinguished police services to citizens, residents and visitors to the UAE.
The Secretary- General stressed the importance of formulating and implementing policies, which are instrumental in organising police work, in addition to implementing the appropriate foundations and curricula to boost performance and provide high quality services.
The workshop was attended by a number of assistant under-secretaries, heads of departments and chiefs of sections from the Ministry of Interior and the MoHESR. It also tackled the general framework for policy development.
Captain Huda Al Ma’aini, Chief of Policies Section at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, presented an overview of the policy development and formulation methodology at the Ministry of Interior. A practical exercise was carried out on the ways to compile problems and challenges, and to set the goals to be achieved by the policies in order to evaluate the effectiveness of their implementation. The exercise also included the formulation of a policy specifically intended for the MoHESR.
