Khalifa Fund Announces Selection Of Six Ideas Under Ibtikari Initiative

The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development has announced the selection of 6 technical ideas in the finals of Ibtikari initiative, which was launched by Khalifa Fund to encourage the youth Emiratis and stimulate them for innovation and creativity in the information technology sector and designing the smart applications.

Abdullah Saeed Al Darmaki, Chief Executive Officer in Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, said, "The owner of selected ideas will join specialised business incubator for 100 days given by Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.

"The fund received 40 business ideas in the smart phone application sector by Emirati youth. Then groups were formed to manage and develop the ideas and to design business plan after they benefited by the training workshops organized by Khalifa Fund", explained Al Darmaki.

"The fund will provide all possible support for the success of any technical project that meet the financial requirements and conditions for Khalifa Fund. The Fund works to build the values of leadership, creativity and innovation among various Emirates segments and work on encouraging them to adopt these concepts and transform it to permanent behavior when planning to establish their own businesses", Al Darmaki added.

Abdelkhader Al Khayat, Chairman of the Board of Trustees in Information & Communication Technology Fund, said, "The ICT Fund believes in the importance of innovation and creativity as the base to build a qualified generation that can utilise his knowledge and ability in the market which will reflect different business sectors in the country. Our continuous collaboration with Khalifa Fund shows the common interest in bringing the best practices & knowledge to assist in the Emiratis youths growth and development to create national enterprises. That will lead to civilised society that can keep up with scientific and cognitive progress in the advanced societies all over the world".

Omar Al Mahmoud, Acting Chief Executive Officer in the ICT Fund, said, "We hope that Ibtikari Initiative will achieve the goals we put of preparing the Emiratis youths to be creative and innovative to be effective part in the country growth. We urge the Emiratis youths to develop innovative ideas that can server the national economy to increase its competitiveness in the regional and international market".

Fatema Mohamed Al Muhairi, Manager of Ibtikari initiative and Manager in Entrepreneurship Development Department in Khalifa Fund, said, "The owner of nominated business ideas which was 6 Emiratis joined 5 days training workshop organised by Khalifa Fund. The workshop includes training in preparation of feasibility studies as well as training in management, marketing and technical fields".

The winning ideas included smart applications in different sectors like; health, tourism and social media. Rand Alhashmi and Hala Alhashmi was nominated by her business idea (MedsFree), which is an application to connect the patients who can’t pay for their medicine with the people who are willing to donate. While, Mohamed Yahia – presented (Authentic AD), which is an application to assist in creating a real tourism tours experience as well as social activities.

Salama Ali presents an application called (GreenMoney) which aims to help people to change their saving methods from traditional way to modern way. Khadija Behzad presented (MeLife) application, which is a built-in application for social media in business card.

Alanoud Al Khemeiri, Abdulla Almansoori, Abdel Aziz Rahman presented (Smart Consumer) application, which helps the users to keep track easily of the expiration dates for food, by sending reminders and creating shopping lists automatically. Omar Bassam Shamout, Salah Bassam Shamout, Ismail Murad Ahmed presented an application to trace bags (TrackMyBag), which helps the users to keep track of the places of the bags on bags belts at the airport by using radio waves & IBacon technique.
