The Ministry of Interior has announced the launch of a Human Rights Professional Diploma initiative, which aims to prepare and qualify national cadres in human rights law and policies. The event, which was organised by the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, took place at the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies, GCAS, in Abu Dhabi.

In his speech during the ceremony, Colonel Mohammed Al Shehhi, Deputy Head of the Human Rights Department, said that the execution plan of the national initiative is composed of four major steps or phases.
“In the first phase, the ministry of Interior’s staff members were invited to submit their applications for enrollment in the
initiative. Candidates were evaluated and personal interviews were conducted in the second phase. The third phase included the specialised training according to which candidates are granted a professional diploma in Human Rights. The final and fourth
