The Department of Community Police at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ was crowned champion of the Futsal Five-a-side Championship. The championship that was organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Department was held at the Aisha Bint Abi Baker Secondary School in Abu Dhabi, with participation of 20 departments.
During the final match, the Department of Community Police team defeated the Al Ain Police Directorate 3/2. In the matches for the third and fourth place, the Operations Department team ranked third, after beating the Special Tasks Department’s team 2/1.
Player Ahmad Al Dawla from the Operations Department was crowned MVP of the Championship, while player Saud Al Shaiba of Al Ain Police Directorate, was named best goalkeeper.
Colonel Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said: “Physical activity and sports are integral for our police members. Participation in such activities not only develops the athleticism of our men and women, but it also positively impacts their mental and intellectual activity, and enhances their professional performance”.
He also noted that police work requires knowledge, skill, intelligence and experience. “In a bid to enhance the level of police performance, the police leadership is keen to develop these skills through various methods and practices by organizing such competitions,” he said.
Captain Jamal Al Saadi, Chief of the Sports Activity Section, said: “With the conclusion of the Futsal Five-a-side championship, we are now officially half way through the 2015 Commander-in-chief Shield Championship, which includes a total of ten tournaments. The remaining championships will resume after the Holy Month of Ramadan, and will include the modern rowing, road race, tactical shooting, iron man and athletics championships.
The closing ceremony was attended by Captain Jamal Al Saadi, Chief of the Sports Activity Section, and Captain Saif Al Dhaheri, from the Sports Activity Section.
