To mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the Abu Dhabi Police urged its personnel to promote a culture of prevention in occupational safety and health. The message of prevention in the workplace was disseminated within the context of a specialized workshop that was organized by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development.
The workshop addressed the most effective mechanisms for disseminating the culture of prevention, and highlighted the positive impacts of implementing the occupational health and safety regulations. It also shed light on the various challenges facing the dissemination of this culture through the effective methodologies of communication channels within governmental institutions.
Workshop attendees reviewed the items of the Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) adopted by the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ). They also stressed the importance of adopting the best international practices in this area.
A number of the environmental, health, and occupational safety representatives from the various departments of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ presented their experiences in implementing the EHSMS among employees. Moreover, a medical team from the Medical Services Department at the Abu Dhabi Police conducted medical tests for the participants on the sidelines of the workshop.
It is noteworthy that World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed on April 28 of each year. The annual international campaign focuses on paying attention to safety, and understanding and assessing risks that may result from the work itself or from other relevant work.
