Seventy five percent of travel agencies in Ajman were classified according to Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) standards, said Head of ATDD Classification Section Engy Mounir Attia.
The announcement came on the third day of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), kicked off in Dubai on May 4-7, in which ATDD participates for the fourth consecutive year.
Almost 150 out of 200 travel agencies were certified with a golden-or-silver-or-bronze category, Attia said, noting that certifications for the remaining 50 companies would be finalized by the end of the current month.
According to her, tourism classification project comes as part of working on the achievement of a number of ATDD strategic goals, including the improvement of tourism experience and developing added-value services to customers.
Classification of travel agencies is the second stage of ATDD project on classification of tourism establishments and activities in the emirate, launched in 2014, Attia said, adding that the third stage was also launched by working on criteria for classifying motels and guest houses.
Classification of travel agencies in Ajman started by the beginning of 2015, following research and benchmarking processes of the sector were completed, she clarified, affirming ATDD keenness on supporting the sector and providing them with all needed services, including promotion in all ATDD participations in international exhibitions.
