Studies have shown that children learn best through games. Game based learning helps in cognitive retention, especially among young children, and enables them to learn better and faster. In the modern technologically advanced scenario, teachers and parents constantly strive to employ methods which combine technology with studies. Skoolbo is one such programme that helps to achieve this.
Out of more than 4000 UK schools registered with Skoolbo, Repton Abu Dhabi took the number one position last month. Skoolbo is a web based learning tool that uses App based games as the central medium for learning. It is specifically designed to support elementary children in improving the attainment in the areas of literacy and mathematics. Skoolbo also equips both teachers and parents with a number of tools to help them monitor and support academic achievement for their children.
“In support of our children’s learning, we firmly believe in the benefits of using technology. We are fortunate to be the first school in the Middle East to run ‘Skoolbo’, a live and interactive Maths and English game which allows children to compete with their peers around the world, consolidating their numerical and literacy skills as they play,” commented Robert Relton, Headmaster at Repton Abu Dhabi.
While Repton Abu Dhabi boasts 1-1 iPads for each and every child, only 9% of British schools have this access, which includes independent schools. Skoolbo is just one of many initiatives that Repton run for their children. If you are interested in knowing more, please contact the Admissions Department who will gladly offer a tour and explain more about digital literacy, embedding IT into the curriculum, and plans for Repton Abu Dhabi's second site which opens soon.
