Tasneef Visits Italy To Strengthen Its Services With International Expertise
(26 April 2015)

As part of its continuous journey to strengthen its position as the first Arab classification society releasing record-breaking standards and regulations for the maritime sector, and specializing in producing standardization and inspection certificates for ships and marine facilities, Tasneef has sent a delegation to Italy in order to strengthen cooperation with the Italian company “RINA services”. In addition to that, the delegation visited a number of companies to promote Tasneef’s services, including the UAE Yacht Code; the first of its kind in the world, which Tasneef has prepared at the beginning of the year.

Eng. Suod Alhammadi, Defense Projects Manager at Tasneef expressed his ultimate hopes for the cooperation between Tasneef and its Italian contemporaries: “We at Tasneef are looking forward to exchanging our knowledge and experience, and to build strong relationships with prominent Italian companies, a vision supported by our government and aimed at building a strong maritime economy in the UAE.”

The delegation visited RINA, a strategic partner with Tasneef in areas of classification and inspection services for ships and marine facilities, as well as the land transport sector in areas of train and railway classification. On this occasion, Capt. Waleed Al Nahdi, Commercial and Marketing Director at Tasneef, has elaborated on the reasons behind the tour, stating: “We are looking for the best deals and cooperation between us and local and international companies working in our industry, in hopes of expanding and getting as many international accreditations as possible. We are also keen to continue the development of our services which we provide to our clients.”

The cooperation between Tasneef and Italian companies lies in the commitment to improve logistic works by cooperating with Log Marine company, specialized in easing logistic operations concerned with transportation, cargo, and port management, and which works to offer the best solutions to provide the best services with minimum cost. Al Nahdi also mentioned that Tasneef will build training centers in the UAE in collaboration with Italian maritime authorities, which offers a great chance for expansion. “We are about to sign an agreement after carefully studying its benefits, and the ability it processes to serve UAE’s vision, and the exchanged services we will provide and receive,” said Al Nahdi.

Additionally, the delegation discussed VTMS (Vessel Traffic Management System) specialized in monitoring ship movements, which is believed to ease the sailing process especially with the ever increasing number of ships and vessels which are currently operating in UAE waters. Floating docks, specialized in oil and gas transportation, were discussed, as well as the ways in which environmentally friendly systems (Green Plus), which Log Marine provides, could be implemented. Green Plus operates on making the necessary calculations to reduce energy consumption and decrease environmental pollution. Selling ships to the American and European market made by Emirati shipbuilders was discussed by the delegation, and the ways in which the proper inspection standards could be implemented in order to help local shipbuilders to enter the global market. “Thanks to our visit we now are able to start our inspection and classification center which operate under the Six Plan Approval Center,” Al Nahdi added.

It is expected that this visit will benefit Tasneef in many ways through its journey to strengthening the strategic vision of the UAE to turn the region and the Arab world into an international maritime trading hub. In addition to increasing research and development which would result from Tasneef’s partnership with global companies that already have a long history in the maritime sector, such as RINA. Moreover, the consultancy services which Tasneef would provide to its clients, as the first Arab authority with local experience, which enables it to build a chain of economic activities in the marine sector and all related services.
