Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, reviewed a new achievement of the Department of Community Police at the Abu Dhabi Police. The department won the Khalifa Award for Education, in the category of Institutions Supporting Education, in the eighth session of the award for 2014-2015.
On Sunday at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), the preparation team, headed by Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, General Director of Society Protection and Crime Prevention, displayed the award to HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed.
HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed praised the efforts of the team that resulted in winning the award. He also encouraged them to continue their practices of benevolence and of striving towards excellence; and to gain further achievements in order to realize the objectives of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in supporting social partnerships.
The meeting was attended by Major General Nasser bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Resources and Support Services; Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan Director General of the Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police; and Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Headquarters Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police.
For his part, Colonel Bin Muhairom said: “This elite award that bears the name of our nation’s leader is an important addition to the Ministry of Interior and contributes to the tireless march of the police in the field of awards. This recognition serves as a catalyst to further promote community work with other state institutions in regards to education.”
He also commended the efforts of the team and for their commitment to work day and night. “The efforts of the Community Police have not gone unnoticed, for they have resulted in the bestowal of this honorable award,” he said.
The team applied a comprehensive system of scientific theories, methodologies, and other approaches in their implementation of a myriad of projects, programs, and activities related to educational, cultural, and social security aspects. The Community Police also applied scientific and social theories in its work. In doing so, the department provided real-life examples in the UAE regarding community services.
The activities included in the awareness programs, campaigns, and initiatives have supported the youth and student care initiatives like ‘Safer Schools’ and back to school programs. The Community Police consistently endeavor to advance student awareness and spread the culture of volunteerism, which contributes to instilling a sense of social responsibility within students in the fields of community service.
