Saif Bin Zayed Inaugurates Ahmed Bin Zayed Mosque In Al Ain
(4 April 2015)

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior inaugurated today the mosque of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Zakher, Al Ain City. The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, and HH Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs.

The Ahmed bin Zayed mosque, spread over 3,248 square meters is one of the architecture landmarks in Al Ain City. Construction work commenced May 11, 2013, in both Moroccan and Andalusian styles, featuring Islamic architecture, under the supervision of a team of professional experts.

The mosque includes a pyramid-shaped dome made of a combination of different and finest wood types (cedar, akaju, and samba wood), which also adorn the mosque’s ceiling. The concrete wall arches are doubled with reinforced and decorative gypsum, in both Moroccan and Andalusian styles.

The mosque can accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers, and includes a prayer hall for men and one for women; ablution facilities; halls for Quran memorization, and two minarets 42 meters high. It also includes housing for the imam and muzzein, and several other utility spaces; all of which make this Islamic landmark a beacon for spreading faith, prayer and Qur’an memorization in the city of Al Ain.

The inauguration was also attended by Hamad bin Suhail Al Khaili; Dr. Mohammed Matar Salem Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affair and Endowments; Eng. Dhafer Ayed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of Al Foah Company; Dr. Mohamed Saif Al Nuaimi, Director General of Al Ain Municipality; Musallam Obaid Balkhalis Al Ameri, CEO of Al Foah Company and a number of government department directors in Al Ain City.
