ADP Call Upon The Public To Cooperate With Traffic Officers To Promote Road Safety
(13 March 2015)

The Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Peripheral Regions Traffic Department at the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, called for strengthening cooperation with traffic police in their efforts to enforce traffic laws and regulations. Such measure aims at achieving road safety, and is in pursuance of the vision and strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police to make roads safer.

In a statement on the occasion of the GCC Traffic Week, Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi, Head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, noted that the slogan of this year’s GCC Traffic Week, “Your Choice Determines Your Destiny”, reflects the importance of taking the right decision at the right time, because time is an important and key element of better decision-making.

Elaborating on this issue, Colonel Al Bloushi said: “One example is the issue of sudden swerving that causes confusion to other drivers. Such practice is a recipe for disaster and often leads to traffic accidents, which claim lives of drivers and other road users, and result in permanent physical disabilities and paralysis. Moreover, traffic accidents put an economic burden on the country, which includes high medical costs of treating traffic accidents’ victims, who in turn will not be capable of contributing to development and productivity in the country.” Moreover, Colonel Al Bloushi shed the light on the unrelenting efforts exerted by traffic officers to ensure a smooth traffic flow, increase traffic control by intensifying traffic patrols and radars, and spread traffic safety education, in cooperation with the media.

In conclusion, the Head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department commended the coordination and collaboration of strategic partners such as municipalities and road infrastructure companies, in developing the external roads’ networks and improving services. Furthermore, Colonel Al Bloushi indicated that the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, provide these entities with the necessary data and assessment of accident prone locations on the roads. “Based on such information, the relevant entities promptly endeavor to fix the problems and improve traffic safety on those roads, in a bid to ensure a streamlined flow of traffic,” he added.
