Schools Interact With Al Ain Traffic Exhibition
(12 March 2015)

A number of schools in Al Ain took part in the traffic awareness exhibition at the Al Ain Mall by showcasing their devices. The participation and the devices received an immense response within the objectives of the 31st Unified GCC Traffic Week, which is held under slogan: “Your Choice Determines Your Destiny”.

Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Head of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Al Ain,  pointed out that the Al Ain traffic exhibition features important service initiatives, new customer services, and serves as a venue to respond to public inquiries regarding the modern services. “The exhibition also organizes daily competitions for visitors and children to promote positive interaction with the event, to instill the culture of safety, to promote security, and to preserve the lives of the public and most particularly, of the children,” he said.

For his part, Lt. Colonel Salah Abdullah Al Hemairi, Chief of Al Ain Traffic Section, noted that the Section, represented by the Public Relations Branch, will be organizing several activities and events throughout Traffic Week and will include educational lectures in schools alongside distributing gifts and awareness brochures. “The Section has also organized traffic competitions for members of the public with valuable prizes that have already garnered remarkable attention from the attendees,” he said.

Moreover, Lt. Colonel Al Hemairi emphasized that the objective of holding the exhibition is to disseminate and promote traffic education amongst members of the public in addition to hosting other activities and events. In a bid to create a conscious generation, the exhibition caters mostly to students in order to promote their sense of respect for traffic laws.

The exhibition at the Al Tamayouz Elementary School in Al Ain, witnessing a large turn-out, showcased a robot that was built to assist children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs in safely crossing the roads. This device is used in the exhibition to disseminate the laws of traffic and to promote a culture of respect for the rules and regulations among the students.

The Al Tamayouz School additionally showcased a device for towing cars from the main road in cases of auto failure. This device is a product of the school’s Robot Club, and has the ability to distinguish between running cars and malfunctioning cars with the use of colors. When the device spots a malfunctioning car, it tows the car to a designated area so that it doesn’t disrupt the traffic.

During the activities for the Traffic Week, a delegation from the Al Ain Traffic Section visited a group of traffic accident victims in the Al Ain Hospital. The delegation, which included Major Rashid Mohammed Al Shamesi and First Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, offered bouquets of flowers to the injured and wished the victims a speedy recovery.
