As part of its efforts to perpetuate a culture of excellence internally and continuing its work to reach the highest international standards, the Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions & Benefits Fund announced the results of its first Award for internal excellence "Al Bairaq", which is based on the criteria and categories of Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance and the European framework for quality management, EFQM.
The Award was launched in May 2014 to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, which included initiating a program of excellence awards within the Abu Dhabi Government entities, parallel to the "Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance" and a contributor to the achievement of its objectives. This Award is aimed at encouraging healthy competition within divisions and departments and consequently raising the level of performance and improving institutional mechanisms.
The Award includes four categories, The Best Division Award of the Abu Dhabi Pensions Fund, which is the main category entailing participation from eight divisions. The Best Division is Drivers of Excellence Award had participation from four divisions while the Best Project / Team Award included 6 projects. Finally, in the Best Individuals Award , thirty-five employees at both supervisory and non-supervisory level participated.
Speaking about the Award, H.E. Khalaf Abdullah Rahmah Al Hammadi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Pensions Fund commented, "Under the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates, the government excellence is no longer an option, but has become an approach that our efforts and hard work is scripted towards. Al Bairaq is part of the excellence of Abu Dhabi government, and our ambition is to work through the award to promote a culture of excellence and transparency, in addition to building and strengthening the capacity of workers and qualifying departments, projects and individuals to compete in the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance, which leads us to the right path to attain the highest degree of excellence in the nation and citizen's service.. "
The Strategic Planning and Excellence Division explained that the evaluation of the candidates for the Award was through a selection process including qualified and highly-efficient evaluators, who have been carefully chosen based on specific standards required by the Al Bairaq Committee. The winners were selected based on specific standards of excellence in Al Bairaq Awards booklet through the points and ranks system for each category, a method used in the process of assessing the excellence Awards.
