Lifecare Hospital Musaffah, VPS Healthcare Group’s multispecialty facility servicing Abu Dhabi’s busy industrial area Musaffah, today announced the opening of its advanced cardiac cath lab. The facility, which is the first in Musaffah, was inaugurated by Dr.Shamsheer Vayalil - Founder & Managing Director, VPS Healthcare.
The latest addition to Lifecare Hospital Musaffah’s cardiology department, the state-of-the-art cath lab hosts the cutting-edge Bi-Plane cardiac catheterization machine, a diagnostic imaging device for visualizing the arteries and chambers of the heart and treating any stenosis or abnormality, with a minimally invasive procedure.
Nearly 30 per cent of youth in the UAE are vulnerable to heart diseases because of bad eating habits, high blood pressure, obesity and high rates of diabetes, according to a study of the Emirates Cardiac Society (ECS) conducted in 2013.

With the opening of the cardiac cath lab, Lifecare Hospital Musaffah will offer 24 hours’ planned and emergency angioplasty intervention to patients who suffer from a heart attack.

The department’s services include left and right heart catheterization, diagnostic coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty by ballooning and stent implantation with the most advanced technology including bioabsorbable stents, primary angioplasty with clot aspiration, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) insertion, insertion of temporary pacemaker, pericardiocentesis in addition to stress ECG and treadmill test, echocardiography, 24 hour holter, and blood pressure (BP) monitoring.
