Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi has appointed Urs Solenthaler as their new Deputy General Manager, reporting to General Manager Shaun Parsons, it was announced today.
Originally from Switzerland, Solenthaler spent the last three years working for the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts Group, most recently in Manila, Philippines as Resident Manager, and prior to that as Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Prior to his positions as Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage he was Director of Food & Beverage at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sentosa Resort & Spa in Singapore, and the Goodwood Park Hotel in Singapore, where he also spent one year as Executive Chef.
He started his hospitality career in 1986 as a kitchen apprentice in The Hilton International in Zurich, Switzerland, and worked himself up through the ranks from Chef De Partie, to Chef de Cuisine, to Executive Chef at leading hotels in Geneva, London, Singapore and China.
Solenthaler is very well travelled and has over 28 years of 5* hotel experience in a number of different regions including Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and is fluent in English, German and French.
