KEF Holdings To Host Global Tennis Enthusiasts At Seventh Annual Tennis Challenge In Northern Emirates
(4 March 2015)

KEF Holdings, a UAE-based multinational holding company that specializes in off-site construction technology, is set to host its seventh annual tennis challenge to reiterate its support to overall community wellness through encouraging sports among the regional and international youth and amateurs.

Scheduled for 6 and 7 March across the Ajman Kempinski, the Radisson Blu Sharjah, and the KEF Villa in Sharjah, the company’s founders Faizal Kottikollon and Shabana Faizal will welcome 78 players from all age groups from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the UAE, the UK, Mexico and Uzbekistan.

The event will also see an exclusive pre-tournament seminar by acclaimed experts from Transform on topics ranging from overcoming the most common tennis injuries and strength training to mental preparation for a match and de-bunking pre and post workout nutrition myths. Transform is a UAE based group that specializes in sports medicine and physiotherapy.

This year’s edition offers participants the opportunity to compete for prize money worth US$10,000 and will be officiated by qualified white badge umpires from the International Tennis Federation.

Faizal Kottikollon, Chairman, KEF Holdings said: “The GCC youth spend a majority of their time indoors and in sedentary environments, and are battling health issues such as obesity at a very young age. We are hoping to tackle this issue, and bring to their attention the importance of holistic well-being. Having seen this event’s development and growth each year, I am confident that we are raising the game’s popularity at the grassroots level, and among talented and competitive amateurs.

“The KEF Tennis Challenge is an excellent platform for enthusiasts to showcase their talent to an international audience. It also provides the young players with an opportunity to further cultivate their skills, and hone their sportsmanship spirit.”

The first KEF Tennis Challenge was held in Bangalore in 2009 with 30 players competing for lucrative cash prizes and rewards. Due to its great popularity, the tournament has since been held in the UAE, where the company is headquartered. The finals will be held on 7 March followed by the award ceremony for which the Consul General of India, Mr. Anurag Bhushan, will give away the prizes.

Faizal Kottikollon and Shabana Faizal have worked to step-up the popularity of the game across the UAE and have hosted several national-level tennis tournaments for juniors and adults.

Partners for the 2015 event include Prince, Thumbay Group, Ajman Kempinski and Radisson Blu Sharjah, Shakesepeare & Co, Terrace Restaurant, Al Hamra Limo and Satish Photography.
