The Ministry of Interior (MoI) will host its first sports festival for individuals with special needs on the 9th of March at Khalifa Park in Abu Dhabi. The two-day festival will include the participation of 22 national specialized centers for individuals with disabilities.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said that the festival embodies the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police to support and provide services for those with special needs and to foster their integration within the community.
The festival committee held a coordination meeting at the Police Staff Stadium in Abu Dhabi in the presence of representatives from the participating parties involved in supporting the festival, including: the Abu Dhabi Municipality, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), the UAE Disabled Sports Federation, the Abilities Development Centre for people with Special Needs (ADC), and representatives of the Khalifa Park. During the meeting, participants discussed the program schedule of the festival, the tasks of the participants, and the suggestions to further develop festival programs for disabled individuals.
During the meeting, Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager, provided a detailed presentation regarding the humanitarian role of the festival in the service of those living with disabilities and in enhancing their self-confidence.
