A recently report from STR Global – the leading provider of hotel data – reveals hotel occupancy in the Middle East reached its highest levels in five years in 2014. The report also confirms the region has experienced a nine per cent increase in demand, with occupancy rates hitting 68.8 per cent.
Bucking the trend and growing beyond the curve is the aparthotel Adagio Abu Dhabi Al Bustan, which opened in July 2014. The apart-hotel, which boasts 279 apartments comprising of 70 studios, 116 one-bedroom, 52 two-bedroom and 41 three-bedroom, posted impressive numbers last year and is running at 78 per cent occupancy so far in 2015.
“The hospitality market mix in the Middle East has changed markedly during the past four years, with a greater number of long-stay hotels or aparthotels emerging in many markets, including the UAE,” explained Dominique Mercier, General Manager at Adagio Abu Dhabi Al Bustan.
The aparthotel under the Adagio brand in the Middle East, it is well positioned for easy access to the city’s business districts, government buildings and is only 20km from the airport. In addition, the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre, Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Mushrif Mall are all within 3km of the property.
Statistics provided by Adagio Abu Dhabi Al Bustan make for interesting reading, with 40 per cent of guests staying for one to three months, 16 per cent staying for three to six months, and a staggering 30 per cent staying for longer than six months. In terms of guest demographics, France leads the way with 20 per cent, followed by USA with 15 per cent and the UAE with 11 per cent.
“Abu Dhabi has become a key business destination and there has been a noticeable trend leaning towards longer stays. We’re extremely pleased with the figures so far – and after an encouraging 2014 we are seeing strong occupancy rates at the start of 2015,” continued Mercier.
