Internationally Acclaimed Spice Market Visits Market Kitchen Abu Dhabi
(9 February 2015)

Spice Market, a timmeless paean to Southeast Asian sensuality, will debut a special menu at Market Kitchen in Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi during the Abu Dhabi Food Festival for a limited time only.

Spice Market is inspired by Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s travels throughout the region and the piquant elevations of the vibrant street cuisine. The menu authentically uplifts its inspirations while offering guests the additional delight of family-style dining; food comes continuously throughout the meal and is placed at the centre of the table for all to share.

With each new dish, patrons are transported to the idealisation of a Vietnamese street market or a Thai food stall. Regional fish sauces, curries and spices are tweaked to tantalising effect in dishes including Char Grilled Chicken Kumquat with Lemongrass Dressing, Ginger Fried Rice, Ovaltine Kulfi and Caramelised Popcorn, among many others.

The featured menu will be led by visiting chef, Peter Lloyd of Spice Market London, Market Kitchen’s sister restaurant, and will run alongside Market Kitchen’s regular menu for one month from mid-February till mid-March.

Chef Lloyd will be live and in person at Market Kitchen from Monday 16th February till Thursday 19th February, as part of this special activation programme where the restaurant will give diners the opportunity to meet Chef Lloyd and savour the flavours of faraway destinations, all while remaining close to home.

“I’m really excited to be visiting Abu Dhabi for the first time, to demonstrate the exciting flavours on the Spice Market London menu which I am so passionate about.  I’m pleased too, that the menu will be running for some time after I’ve left; plenty of time for people to get down to Market Kitchen and experience the uniqueness that Spice Market brings to the palate and the entire dining experience.  There’s really something on the menu for everyone,” said Chef Peter Lloyd.

Shaun Parsons, General Manager at Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, added: “We’re very excited to be participating in the first ever Abu Dhabi Food Festival, and inviting Chef Peter Lloyd from Spice Market London is an exciting opportunity for us to collaborate with an internationally renowned restaurant brand.  We’ll be looking to do more of these kinds of international culinary events in the future, to ensure we’re always offering our guests something new and exciting.”

Spice Market has locations in London, New York and Doha, and is managed by the Culinary Concepts Hospitality Group, a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the Abu Dhabi Food Festival will run from February 5th to the 21st and is supported by the Emirate’s leading hotels, restaurants, malls and main attractions.  International and local chefs will demonstrate their skills and specialty dishes from around the world to create culinary delights to suit every taste and palate.
