Transco To Offer 120 Job Opportunities At Tawdheef 2015 As Part Of Work Readiness Programme

Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company (TRANSCO), a leading provider of water and electricity transmission services and wholly-owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), is set to offer 200 jobs for high school graduates and holders of diplomas and bachelor's degree in electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines. Of these, 120 vacancies will be allocated to the participants of TRANSCO’s Work Readiness Programme (WRP).

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on the sidelines of Tawdheef 2015, the leading recruitment fair that will run until 4 February, 2014. Engineer Salem Al Harthi, Director of Projects and Hayyah Ahmed Al Ali, HR & Admin Department Manager at TRANSCO headlined the media briefing.

An ideal initiative for young Emirati nationals looking for a career in the rapidly developing power and water sector in the UAE, the first session of the 18-month WRP will commence this month in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT). Through this programme, TRANSCO seeks to develop the skills and abilities of Emiratis and support them in achieving a recognised practical accreditation from the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research & Training (CERT).

Hayyah Ahmed Al Ali, HR & Admin Department Manager at TRANSCO, said: "The energy and water sector is extremely important for the UAE towards achieving economic growth and wellbeing of all who live in the Emirates. At TRANSCO, we consider Emiratisation an important national duty and strategic objective in achieving the vision of our government. In attracting a growing number of young Emirati nationals to this sector, we aim to support their empowerment into experts and future leaders in this vital sector."

Al Ali added: "The WRP programme will serve as a springboard for aspiring young Emiratis to build a successful career in the highly sought-after energy and water sector and contribute to their enhancement. The multi-phase training method is designed to provide long-term career development for young Emirati nationals through attending various vocational training opportunities. This will give them a solid technical foundation that combines on-the-job training, technical knowledge and competency-based learning.”

Engineer Salem Al Harthi, Director of Projects at Transco, said: "Electro-mechanical technician positions are critically important for TRANSCO to achieve its performance objectives and increase efficiency by providing best-in-class transmission and dispatch services. At TRANSCO, we are keen to provide all necessary expertise and support for new hires towards enabling them to grow, operate and maintain our network far into the future.”

A subsidiary of (ADWEA), Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO) is responsible for developing, operating and maintaining the high voltage power transmission and bulk water transmission. The company is tasked with meeting the current demand for water and electricity transmission as well as building the appropriate transmission infrastructure to support future demand in line with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
