Yas Marina Circuit will again echo to the sound of spectators’ cheers and roar of engines this weekend as the second round of the Yas Racing Series returns on Friday 30th January, featuring three local UAE championships.
Brought to you by Yas Motor Racing Club, Yas Racing Series will feature Round Two of Yas Marina Circuit’s first ever, single-make championship, the TRD 86 Cup.
Following the excitement of Round One held in December that saw Karim Al Azhari storm ahead in the series with first place in both races, tension will be running high as a packed grid of UAE-based drivers once again face-off at the home of the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX to build points over the series’ four rounds and claim their place on the winner’s podium.
The TRD 86 Cup was created by Yas Motor Racing Club to nurture the growth of sustainable local motorsports.
In addition to TRD 86 Cup, Yas Racing Series also includes the Formula Gulf 1000, the UAE’s national single-seater championship, featuring cars with identical slicks and wings, as well as UAE Time Attack a highly dynamic race series that sees production-based sports cars compete for the fastest single lap.
“Enthusiasm for local motor racing is running very high in the UAE,” said Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit. “There is a huge appetite for affordable, entry-level racing action from both amateur drivers and spectators, and at Yas Marina Circuit we are doing all we can to facilitate this demand and to play our part in developing the country’s racing scene and to nurturing tomorrow’s professional racers through initiatives such as this.”
In addition to the busy racing schedule, Yas Marina Circuit will also be hosting an array of off-track entertainment, and with Friday’s racing action costing only AED25 per person, you don’t want to miss out. The gates open at 9am, so whether you’re a die-hard petrolhead or sport enthusiast looking for something unique in the UAE, come and support the UAE’s burgeoning local motorsports scene see you there!
