Raytheon has productive partnership with UAE companies
(23 February 2009)

Raytheon’s story in the UAE is characterised by presence, partnership and a plan and commitment for the future, according to P.T. Mikolashek, President of Raytheon, Middle East and North Africa.

"We are proud of our long and deep relationship here and we are working to take that relationship to the next level in years to come. As a company, we are increasingly looking for ways to build on what we have, embrace partners and meet the needs of our most important customers, he told the IDEX Show daily.

"We have been in UAE for decades as a strong partner and provider of the best missile systems that give the armed forces the capability to defend and protect its citizens. This long term presence has enabled our people to come to know our customers professionally and personally and truly contribute to our ability to provide the best solutions for their needs." This presence has set the foundation for some very important partnerships that are emerging with great promise, Mikolashek added. Last year the company embarked on a significant effort with Emirates Advanced Investments in Abu Dhabi with the goal of co-developing and co-producing a laser guided rocket. It sees this as just the beginning of a new way of doing business here.

Similarly, Raytheon had a very productive relationship with Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company that has broken new ground in providing the best naval technology to the UAE Naval Forces. This relationship likewise has enormous potential for future opportunities, he emphasised.

"Raytheon is used to working globally, doing business in some 80 countries around the world via numerous partnerships. Each of these markets is just different enough to require a nimble yet strategic approach that can include co-production opportunities.

"Our priorities for the future are based on building on our presence here, increasing partnership opportunities and providing for the priorities of the UAE Armed Forces. In addition to providing top-line missile systems to the Air Force and Land Forces, we are intent on expanding beyond traditional aerospace and defense systems."
