The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, kick started the 2015 sports season, by organizing the Open Road Race Championship for Men and the Race Walking Championship for women along the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
Results from the men's road race championship were as follows: the Western Region Police Directorate ranked first, while the Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department and the Operations Department came in second and third place, respectively. In the singles competitions, Sergeant Khalifa Al Nuaimi from the Special Tasks Department ranked first, followed by Sergeant Saud Al Zaabi from the Operations Department and Corporal Mohammed Al Hassani from the Western Region Police Directorate in second and third place, respectively.
Results of the women's race walking championship that took place at Khalidiya Park were as follows: the Police Schools Department ranked first, followed by the Community Police Department and the Western Region Police Directorate in second and third place, respectively. In the singles competitions, Sara Saeed from the Police Schools Department ranked first. Manana Mohammed from the Community Police Department and Reem Ahmed from the Western Region Police Directorate took second and third places respectively.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, congratulated the winning directorates and staff members, stressing the close-knit relation between sports and police work. “Police staff members need to be physically fit and highly skilled in order to carry out the challenging tasks and achieve the coveted goals. The sports competitions in the various tournaments held by the Abu Dhabi Police contribute to enhancing the skills of staff members; and enabling them to achieve better goals, especially in field work,” noted Colonel Al Dhaheri.
The tournament was attended by Major Mohammed Al Falahi, Chief of the Sports Activity Section; and Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager.
