Saif Bin Zayed Reviews The Efforts Of The MOI Energy Conservation Committee

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior’s Energy and Water Conservation Committee in their successful reduction of energy consumption by seven percent in ministry premises across the country.

His Highness urged the committee to continue to promote patriotism, and the optimization energy and the reduction of waste in order to serve national interests. His Highness furthermore called upon the committee to continue its pursuance of implementing internationally developed standards, while praising the efforts made in the fields of energy conservation and raising awareness amongst the Ministry of Interior personnel.

On Thursday, HH met the chairman and members of the committee in his office at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters to honor them for their diligent efforts. During the meeting, Colonel Hareb Khamis Maghir Al Khaili, chairman of the committee, briefed His Highness on the efforts undertaken to establish a database that includes information on buildings and measuring devices that track rates of consumption. Colonel Al Khaili pointed out that the committee promotes the culture of conservation amongst ministry personnel through awareness campaigns and lectures in various sectors.

Colonel Al Khaili also stressed the keenness of the committee to cooperate with internal and external stakeholders, as demonstrated through the organization of 152 meetings and the implementation of 547 field visits and inspections of police general headquarters and ministry departments. “Further steps adopted by the committee to reduce consumption depend on the support and participation of the human element. The UAE awards those that uphold such standards of excellence, and the methods of conserving energy and water have enabled employees to showcase their creativity by devising new ways to conserve,” he said.
