Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Honorary President of the Arab Foundation for Science and Technology, Sharjah will host the second session of the Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development from19th- 21st of December.
The session is organised by The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO) at the Sharjah Holiday International Hotel, in partnership with the Arab Foundation for Science and Technology, and operating under this year's slogan "Towards a Return to Leadership in Science".
The Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development is sponsored by ALECSO to contribute to the building of effective partnerships among the sectors of education, scientific research and other parties concerned with development and related issues in the Arab world.
The annual Forum provides an Arab platform that is unique in its nature, unlike conventional conferences and meetings.
It seeks to bring together senior officials and decision makers at related Arab ministries of planning, economic development, education, research, industry, and agriculture, with scientists and researchers from universities, training and research institutions, the private sector, as well as producers and service providers in the Arab countries.
The Forum is a formal, scientific and economic event that provides an appropriate platform for cooperation and integration between the participating organisations that assist in the creation of appropriate mechanisms to link graduate programmes and scientific research projects that are conducted at universities and research centres, while focusing on the needs of Arab communities and their development plans.
Dr. Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al-Najjar, President of the Arab Foundation for Science and Technology, said the second session of the Forum is a serious attempt to build an effective partnerships in the fields of education, scientific research and other development-related sectors.
Al Najjar pointed to the prestigious position occupied by the UAE in the Global Innovation Conference, as a role model in the knowledge- economy, thanks to the wise guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.
He also praised the UAE National Strategy of Innovation, recently launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which is a model for the Arab countries.
