United Arab Emirates: ABILITIESme, the Middle East’s first and leading disabilities support exhibition and conference, returns in 2015 to Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Honorary President of the Future Centre for Special Needs in Abu Dhabi, to further boost empowerment and raise awareness of people with special needs in the country and the region.
With around 15% of the global population currently has a disability and as the population continues to age, this percentage is expected to grow according to Disability News and Information. For that, ABILITIESme will showcase, for the second year, the latest developments in mobility solutions, independent living solutions and assistive rehabilitation to support and sustain people with special needs and elderly around the globe as well as avail the latest technology and solutions for them.
Ensuring his presence to inaugurate the event next year, His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan said: “One of our society’s key challenges is to transform its views towards people with disabilities from stereotyped “disabled individuals” to “individuals with their own abilities”, and this is why I support ABILITIESme.
For the second year, ABILITIESme embodies the spirit of an all-inclusive society, recognizing disabled people’s right to be different and to live their life in a way which meets their particular needs without prejudice. Our support goes hand in hand with the UAE Government’s unlimited dedication to recognize everyone’s equal rights and to facilitate full enjoyment of this right through their inclusion and participation in building a better community”, added His Excellency.
