118 UAE nationals were recruited by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) to serve the bank’s clients in its branches and offices across the UAE.
“Falkom Tayeb” initiative, launched under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan NBAD Board member Chairman of Human Resources Committee and Chairman of Strategy & Transformation Committee, is a continuation of NBAD’s long standing and successful Emiratisation programmes.
The new Emiratisation initiative, launched by NBAD in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council (ADTC), reflects the bank’s commitment to the UAE leadership’s vision of Emiratisation. It seeks to nurture the talent of young UAE nationals and help them develop into future leaders for NBAD and the nation.
At the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan reaffirmed how “Falkom Tayeb” initiative takes forward the values envisioned by the nation’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and outlined in Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.
“I am proud to see NBAD continues the vision laid-out by our wise leaders and which has brought our great nation to where it is today. By providing our young UAE Nationals the opportunity, skills and guidance, we can ensure that they successfully fulfill their roles as future leaders in the social and economic development of our country,” Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan said.
The 118 UAE nationals, recruited by NBAD, are fresh to the labour market or have less than 2 to 3 years of banking/non-banking experience, and have undergone a training programme to qualify for work in the banking industry.
The ceremony was attended by Michael Tomlin, NBAD Board Member, Alex Thursby NBAD Group Chief Executive Officer, Abdulla Al Otaiba, Senior Managing Director and Group Head of Global Retail & Commercial, Ehab Hassan, Senior Managing Director & Group Chief Human Resources Officer at NBAD, Rashed Al Marshoudi, Operations Divisional Director at Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council (ADTC), Saleh Omar – Manger, Abu Dhabi Campus of Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) and other members of NBAD’s senior management.
Abdulla Al Otaiba, Senior Managing Director and Group Head of Global Retail & Commercial at NBAD, outlined how “Falkom Tayeb” contributes to the UAE leadership’s vision of Emiratisation.
“We are honoured to contribute to this initiative, which focuses on developing young Emiratis and aims to increase their participation in the private sector,” Mr. Al Otaiba said. “I am proud to see NBAD as an integral part of the UAE, and play a fundamental role in its future. As UAE Nationals, it is our pleasure and duty to pass on our knowledge to future generations, and, as our 43rd National Day approaches, to help them take their first steps into the professional world”.
The new-hires have raised Emiratisation ratio across NBAD from 33% to 35% and from 37% to 41.3% at Retail and Commercial Banking. 96 of the graduates are females and 22 are males.
Ehab Hassan, Senior Managing Director & Group Chief Human Resources Officer, under whose guidance the candidates for this program were selected, trained, and placed in their new roles, said, “NBAD Emiratisation strategy goes beyond simply hiring people. We select young job seekers, and offer them dynamic training programmes on banking, customer service, and communication skills. We equip our new recruits with the knowledge and skills required to serve the UAE and help NBAD achieve its vision to be the World’s Best Arab Bank.”
As part of its Emiratisation drive, NBAD launched several initiatives to develop and maximise the potential of UAE Nationals.
In 2012, NBAD has launched a contact center in Al Ain, which is managed and staffed entirely by Emirati women. The contact center is an example of NBAD’s contributions in providing job opportunities for UAE nationals particularly females.
