Emirates Foundation Celebrates Exemplary Youth And Pays Tribute To Donors
(19 November 2014)

Exceptional, young Emiratis whose efforts contributed to the success of the Emirates Foundation’s 2014 programmes, were honoured during the Foundation’s annual Recognition Day Ceremony this week.

The event, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Emirates Foundation, also recognised the Foundation's strategic partners and donors who provided the financial and technical support needed to help fulfill its vision and mission to inspire and enable young people.

The grand ceremony, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), was attended by H.E Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Transport Department and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, and Managing Director of the Emirates Foundation, H.E Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Cooperation, President of Zayed University, and other Emirates Foundation board members included Mohamed Hamad Al Mehairi, Dr. Frauke Heard-Bey, and Muna Al Gurg, alongside the Foundation donors and partners and eminent philanthropic and social enterprise professionals.

His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Managing Director and Board Member of Emirates Foundation, delivered His Highness Sheikh Abdullah’s speech on his behalf and highlighted H.H Sheikh Abdullah’s appreciation of the creativity of Emirati youth and their achievements and dedication towards building a better and brighter future for the UAE community. He also voiced his gratitude to the donor organisations, and their financial and technical support for Emirates Foundation programmes, noting their loyalty and commitment to the values of social responsibility, and their keenness to play a strategic role in enhancing sustainable development and building the nation’s knowledge based economy.

H.H Sheikh Abdullah also highlighted in his speech that these achievements were accomplished as a result of the wise leadership support, the contributions of public and private sector partners, along with the constant efforts of Emirati youth and the Emirates Foundation's team who proved they possess the commitment, potential and capabilities to launch successful social initiatives and programmes.

His Highness noted that building the country's future and speeding up the sustainable development wheel requires highly qualified personnel in different technological and scientific fields and specialties.

"We still have a long journey ahead of us with challenges to be overcome. However, we can still achieve many things through empowering and developing the youth," H.H said, emphasising that the way to achieve these ambitions and reach maximum potential was through the power of partnerships and collaboration between all sectors in the country.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah concluded his speech by inviting Emirati youth to keep participating in the Foundation's programmes, and to utilise the many opportunities that they provide in the fields of empowerment and development. He also urged national organisations to carry on contributing and engaging with Foundation initiatives.
