Abu Dhabi is gearing up to welcome over 100 Chinese consumer product manufacturers that are to exhibit at this year's China Consumer Products Fair to be hosted at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 24 - 26 November 2014.
Food and beverage, kitchenware, home ware, automotive parts and accessories, ceramics and glassware, office equipment and furniture are just some of the15 categories that are on show at the 3 day exhibition at ADNEC.
Gary Robinson, Events Director of MIE Events JLT said: "Chinese companies have historically been perceived as high volume and low cost manufacturers of many types of products. This is simply no longer the case. Chinese manufacturers produce in a wide variety or prices and quality that suit any market requirement. Some of the highest quality products emanate from the Far East."
Robinson added: "The key point is that it is extremely difficult to not only find manufactures in China but finding reliable ones and building a relationship with them is a challenge. We know that Middle East companies are keen to develop these trading ties with China. We have brought a good cross section of them now to the Middle East."
He continued: "The UAE and the retail industry has its eye very firmly on the effect that Expo 2020 is likely to have in the region. This makes our event all the more important as retailers look to source more competitively and in larger volumes from new global sources. Abu Dhabi is gearing up for this with many new shopping malls coming on stream over the next 3 years.
The UAE is a pivotal market within the Middle East and the gateway to over 1.3 billion potential consumers. The Middle East enjoys some of the highest per capita retail spend globally so it is understandable that retailers want to have the quality and volume of products to take advantage of this huge affluent market.
China was the UAE's second largest trade partner in 2013, with trade exchange totaling over US$ 40bn, UAE is also a major re-exporter of Chinese goods to Middle Eastern and Gulf markets. China is the largest manufacturing economy in the world, outpacing its world rival in this category, (the USA). 60% of all China exports currently come through UAE free zones.
UAE is also home to 356 Chinese commercial agencies with 2483 Chinese trademarks registered with the Ministry of Economy.
