Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilisers, has announced it will donate AED1.5 million to support the UAE Disabled Sports Federation, in an effort by the company to raise awareness about the needs of the disabled. The contribution came from the Borealis Social Fund, which was launched in 2008 to help social welfare in the communities in which Borealis operates.
"A healthy environment and stable society are the pre-requisites for developing a successful business," said Mark Garrett, Borealis Chief Executive. "Borealis is committed to giving something back in the locations where we operate. Our support to the UAE Disabled Sports Federation will help raise public awareness about the special needs of the disabled and facilitate their active integration into society." Mohammed M. Fadhel Al Hameli, Deputy Chairman, Secretary-General of the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs and Chairman of the UAE Disabled Sports Federation, said, "We very much appreciate the social tradition Borealis has established in supporting the educational and social work in the UAE community. Together, we are helping people with special needs to continue their journey of excellence, armed with their strong will and motivation to achieve success in winning local, regional and international championships."
