Corniche Hospital continues to be the only hospital in the UAEto have achieved the ‘Baby Friendly Hospitalinitiative’(BFHI) accreditation by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and World Health Organization (WHO) for the third time in a row.

The third BFHI accreditation endorses the hospital's commitment to educating and providing mothers with informationof the best possible support and experience with breastfeeding.

Corniche Hospital was first awarded with the BFHI accreditation from UNICEF in 2006 and then consequently in 2010.

“The baby friendly initiative is not just another feather in our cap. It is a serious hospital commitment towards empowering families to improve the health and well-being of their childand focusing on the wellness of the families in our community. Having celebrated our 30th anniversary recently, Corniche Hospital recollects a long history of providing parent education to our community. For years, we have remained committed to supporting breastfeeding, ensuring that the care delivered to women and their babies is of a high standard,”said Linda Clark, CEO of Corniche Hospital speaking about the achievement.

“And with the BFHI accreditation for the third time, we areconfident, proud and pleased totell our parents that we care about their newborn baby andwhy thefirst days together as a family are extremely important,” she added.

Corniche Hospital was visited by the BFHIteam on 9th of October 2014. During the assessment process, members of the accreditation team evaluated hospital processes and observed providers and nursing staff on site as they delivered "patient-centered and patient-focused" care to patients.

Corniche Hospital is alsothe only hospital in the region to have achieved recognitionby the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) for excellence in lactation care in 2013.

Corniche Hospital is owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
