ALHOSN University was officially visited by ADBC Pink Polo as part of its Campus Tour activities to raise awareness to the UAE youth about breast cancer. This is the first time that ADCB Pink Polo brought its edutainment programme to ALHOSN University, which seeks to gain the support of university students and encourage their participation at the main ADCB Pink Polo event.
The ADCB Pink Polo event is organized by the Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in association with the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), in order provide a unique opportunity to educate families and women about the disease. ALHOSN University is one of many universities across the UAE who have been invited to attend the event, which is also attended by government and private sectors companies, and supported by several VIPs. ADCB Pink Polo encourages universities in particular to contribute to the event, through their artwork as well as other talents.
Dr. Munther Momany, Vice Chancellor and CEO of ALHOSN University, said, "We are extremely pleased to support the ADCB Pink Polo and be a part of the Pink Polo Campus Tour for the first time. We understand that breast cancer is in the list of top ten commonest cancers for the general population in the UAE and, at ALHOSN University, we strongly support any initiative that will benefit women’s health and development. The University maintains an open mind about issues affecting the community, and this event will provide our students with an excellent opportunity to gain a better understanding about this condition that affects so many women worldwide.”
Students at ALHOSN University actively participated in the ADCB Pink Polo Campus Tour. They took pictures with the Pink Polo team as well as some creative photos with polo equipment, which they then shared with their friends and on social media, further spreading the awareness about breast cancer. They also received some valuable information through the Pink Clinic about early detection and treatment.
After the day’s activities, many of the University students signed up to volunteer for the Pink Polo Family Day, which will be held at Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club on 7th November 2014, starting at 2pm. Admission to this event is free for all, and students can enjoy a variety of activities such as camel and pony rides, face painting, magic shows, camel polo as well as a picnic area with their families and friends.
