Ducab, the Middle East’s leading manufacturer of high quality cables and cabling products, has announced a partnership with Abu Dhabi Airports on the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB). Assisting Abu Dhabi Airports in achieving their vision of becoming the world’s leading airport group, Ducab will deliver the highest quality of services and infrastructure to improve the gateway into the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Set to open its doors in July 2017, the MTB, the cornerstone of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s multi-billion dollar expansion plan, will be one of the largest airport terminals in the world. When completed, the new building will be 700,000 square metres in area, making it larger than Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5.
The Midfield Terminal project has been planned by Abu Dhabi Airports in order to increase passenger traffic to above 40 million per year, and cargo capacity to 2.5 million tonnes per year.
With Abu Dhabi Airports’ support for local industries, Ducab has been involved since the inception of the project, right from the early stages, working closely with stakeholders. Ducab’s local presence ensures a quick turnaround time on the order, with world-class manufacturing facilities, on-ground expertise, and round-the-clock technical and after sales support, which are all highly critical components of the project.
Speaking on Ducab’s involvement in the Midfield Terminal Building project, Shailendra Pratap Singh, Country Manager UAE, Oman & Qatar for Ducab, commented: “Ducab is proud to be involved with this prestigious project which will become one of world’s premier airports once it is completed. The first ever locally manufactured enhanced Fire Resistant Cables (FlamBICC 6) will be supplied by Ducab for the Midfield Terminal. FlamBICC 6 cables provide 120 minutes of fire resistance and world-class protection against fire, water and mechanical shocks. FlamBICC 6 is not only approved by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence but also by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) of the United Kingdom. Ducab was also contracted to supply Medium-Voltage Cables, and LV – Low Smoke Zero Halogen Cables and Wires.
“The quality of cabling and accessories that we provide, coupled with the expert knowledge and huge experience in the industry, has been acknowledged by stakeholders to have made a massive contribution to the ongoing construction of this significant infrastructure project,” Shailendra concluded.
