Abu Dhabi Residency Brings Their Services To The Locations Of Elderly And Disabled
(2 October 2014)

The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi recently organized the ‘Your Wish is Our Command’ initiative, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons which falls on the first of October each year. The initiative provides special and distinct services to its customers from the categories that include the elderly and those with special needs by bringing such services to the preferred locations of these customers. The initiative is an embodiment of the strategy for continuous development to achieve leadership in the provided governmental services and to reflect the vision of the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector.

Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, stressed the higher leadership’s keenness and interest in providing all forms of support and care for customers in these categories and to enable them in obtaining the services provided by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in their preferred locations. He indicated that this step comes in line with the ‘Plants of Hope’ initiative, which provides humanitarian services to these particular segments of society, and has been implemented as per the instructions of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

He pointed out that this initiative was put forward after reviewing the best practices in customer service, and by studying the needs of different customer categories and how they obtain their services.

“The ‘Your Wish is Our Command’ initiative was launched in an effort to improve the customer experience of the elderly and of those with special needs; and to build their confidence through the provision of better and more unified standards of service.  It aims to build a distinguished customer service culture, where the prevailing norms are of excellence and customer-centered service; and to implement the ultimate objectives that embody the strategy of the MoI. These objectives are to ensure that the services provided are in accordance with the standards of quality, efficiency, and transparency; to promote public confidence in the effectiveness of the services;  and to be in accordance with the standards and principles of the Emirates Distinguished Government Service Program,” said Colonel Al Zaabi.

Moreover, Colonel Al Zaabi noted that this service is provided to applicants from the above-mentioned categories through specialist staff members who are available to complete their procedures and transactions on their behalf.

“The services can even be requested by directly calling the allocated contact number and indicating the type of required transaction. A competent team of staff members are then conveniently dispatched to the homes of the elderly and persons with special needs in order to complete their transactions without having to visit police stations,” he said.

It is noteworthy that the ‘Plants of Hope’ initiative includes several activities, services, and projects organized by the MoI. The initiative includes the Friends of the Police Program and support for the disabled, alongside other activities and services for people with special needs.
