In line with its commitment to achieve effective coordination and cooperation across UAE government financial work, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Finance (DoF) - Abu Dhabi, to strengthen the exchange of professional experience and information between both parties.
The MoU was signed by HE Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of MoF, on behalf of the Ministry and by HE Mohammed Sultan bin Ghanoum Al Hameli, Director General of the Department of Finance, on behalf of DoF. The signing ceremony, which took place in the Ministry’s premises in Abu Dhabi, was attended by HE Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Budget Sector at MoF and Abeer Ali Abdooli, Financial Policies Coordination Director at MoF, along with a number of employees from both MoF and DoF.
The signing reflects both parties’ keenness to implement the Federal Government’s strategy, which stresses the importance of coordinating and cooperating with all government institutions in order to establish work processes and joint cooperation. The MoU stipulates both parties’ commitment to exchange information, experience and expertise, and review best joint work practices; such as legislation development and financial systems, budget preparation and its implementation, the preparation of closing accounts and financial statements, financial applications, promoting technical cooperation as well as organising workshops and training sessions on employee’s professional performance in different areas of government financial work.
HE Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of MoF, highlighted the strong joint relationship between MoF and the DoF- Abu Dhabi. HE explained that signing the MoU has placed this solid relationship within a systematically practical framework, allowing both parties to achieve the best possible results.
HE added: “The signing of this MoU falls in line with the Ministry’s commitment to build strategic partnerships with various local federal entities in order to achieve sustainable development in the UAE. The Ministry has played an important role in establishing the processes of government financial work, based on global practices.”
HE Mohammed Sultan bin Ghanoum Al Hameli, Director General of the Department of Finance- Abu Dhabi said: “DoF aims to establish a solid foundation for collaboration with MoF, especially in joint-work fields. Both parties will have the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise related to legislations and financial systems, and to prepare closing budgets and financial statements as well as various financial applications.”
HE Added: “DoF is committed to continuously supporting the economic development process of Abu Dhabi through signing strategic partnerships with different federal and local bodies in the UAE. This will contribute to enhancing the exchange of professional expertise and developing operational procedures, ensuring the provision of high quality governmental financial services to the local public.”
Through this agreement, both MoF and DoF seek to harness all possibilities in building the best fiscal and economic policies in the UAE, to foster strategic partnerships that will further develop the work processes, facilitate the exchange of valuable information and relevant data, as well as the organisation of events and joint activities.
