Nineteen female students from the College of Law at United Arab Emirates University visited the Al Ain section affiliated with the Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police to review work procedures and the applicable legal procedures.
Captain Fatima Mohammed Al Kaabi, Head of the Women's Ward at Al Ain Section, welcomed the visiting delegation, headed by Dr. Fatiha Mohamed Gourari, Chair of the Department of Public Law. Captain Al Kaabi stressed commitment of the Abu Dhabi Police to enhancing cooperation and communication with the various institutions of society.
The visiting delegation was briefed on the vision and mission of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ in regards to the Punitive and Correctional Establishments. They also learned about the establishment’s procedures and working mechanisms that are implemented upon receiving the inmates and up until their release; and correspondingly watched a documentary illustrating those procedures.
The delegation also listened to a detailed explanation of the matters and legal issues relating to the Punitive and Correctional Establishments, as well as to the rights and duties of the inmates. At the end of the visit, the students toured the Women’s Ward, where the nature of work and the activities offered to the inmates were explained.
