Emirates Islamic Launches Campaign To Encourage Customer Use Of Digital Banking Platforms
(6 August 2014)

Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, announced today the launch of a two-month campaign aimed at encouraging customers to increasingly use the bank’s digital banking platforms. The campaign seeks to reward customers with the highest number of transactions on Digital Banking channels including Online Banking & Mobile Apps.

The campaign which is in accordance with the Dubai Smart City initiative launched recently by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also echoes the bank’s on-going strategy to boost use of online and mobile banking channels.

During the period June 20 - August 21, 2014, five Emirates Islamic customers with the highest number of selected financial transactions in the online and mobile space, have the opportunity to win pre-paid cards worth AED1,000 each. The selected financial transactions being considered for this campaign include domestic and international remittances, UAE utility payments including electricity, water and telecommunications, RTA payments including Salik and NOL recharge and payment of fines, and flight bookings on flydubai.

“Across the world, there is a concentrated move towards greater adoption of innovative technology-backed banking techniques, and we believe this is the ideal time to encourage our customers to be more active in the online and mobile banking channels,” said Faisal Aqil, Deputy CEO- Consumer Wealth Management, Emirates Islamic. “Through this campaign, we hope to urge greater use of our online and mobile banking apps and move a step closer towards becoming a more connected economy.”

Emirates Islamic’s campaign builds on the UAE’s position as the country with the highest smartphone penetration rate in the world in early 2013. According to figures from Google’s Mobile Planet, smartphone penetration in the UAE was at 73.8%, higher than South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. Mobile internet usage penetration is also high at 73% compared to MENA and global figures of 41% and 51% respectively.
