(4 August 2014)

During the Al Fitr holidays, the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters arrested 11 reckless drivers and seized six vehicles for performing dangerous stunts in one of the main streets of the Ras Al Khaimah Emirate. The police are still searching for four others, who are outside of the country. An all-points bulletin have been put out for the remaining suspects throughout the ports and borders of the country in order to arrest and take proper legal procedures against them.

Brigadier Mohammad Al Noubi, Deputy General Commander of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said, “The Operations Room received several reports about a group of young men performing dangerous stunts and drifting in plate-less vehicles with illegally tinted, and completely covered windows and windshield on one of the main roads in the emirate. These reckless drivers not only endangered their own lives, but they also endangered the lives of others, with complete disregard of the police patrol on site who tried their best to stop them and protect them from any harm.”

Brigadier Al Noubi added, “A task force was immediately headed by Brigadier Ghanem Ahmed Ghanem, Director General of Central Operations at RAK Police, to arrest the reckless drivers and seize the vehicles involved.” Brigadier Al Noubi pointed out that the Ras Al Khaimah Police have made efforts to collect evidence in order to arrest the drivers and seize the vehicles that were violating traffic laws and regulations. He said, “The search is still ongoing and Ras Al Khaimah Police will not tolerate those who determinedly break the law. We will confront and arrest each violator.”

Brigadier Al Noubi said that securing the roads is one of the Ministry of Interior`s main objectives and the police always strive to protect the lives of road users according to the best international standards in safety and security. “The police also endeavor to engage all segments of society in purposeful traffic awareness programs, with special focus on the youth. Because youth are the wealth of the nation, we want to prepare a responsible generation that is aware of the dangers of traffic accidents,” Brigadier Al Noubi said.
