Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas has revealed plans for a three night/four day fitness event branded the Anantara Adventure Challenge to take place across three of its properties in Abu Dhabi from 10th 13th December, 2014 with an impressive prize pool of luxury getaways from Anantara in the Maldives, Thailand and UAE up for grabs.
Designed to test the physical endurance of some of the UAE’s fittest athletes and adventurers, this first ever team event of its kind will allow up to fifty athletes (both male and female) in teams of two, to make the most of the natural landscape at the various Anantara properties throughout Abu Dhabi.
From desert dunes and rocky mountain terrain to the glistening waters and waves of the Arabian Gulf there will be something to challenge even the most athletic teams.
Taking place over four days and three nights, the challenge will start at Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort with formal briefings and a welcome dinner and ahead of the first day of fat biking and dune running challenges. Day two is mountain biking and a sea swimming challenge at Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara on Sir Bani Yas Island. While Day 3, will be held at Abu Dhabi’s urban sanctuary, Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara where participants will compete in the final leg of the Anantara Adventure Challenge, kayaking the mangrove lagoon, running the Eastern Mangroves corniche and the perimeter of the Eastern Mangroves leisure precinct.
In addition to the physical endurance challenges, each pairing of man/woman, will be tested on their knowledge of the destinations they are competing in each evening in the Cultural Challenge. Throughout the course of each day’s competition, the resort adventure guides will share unique heritage and cultural facts of the United Arab Emirates specific to the Liwa Desert, Sir Bani Yas Island and Abu Dhabi city destinations. Smart phones are not allowed to Google the answers and the questions have been created whereby answers are almost impossible to find online.
Each team comprises one man and one woman, older than 18 years. Each physical challenge is weighted evenly and the overall challenge winner will be decided upon the cumulative score placings across the event. In the event of a tie, the cultural challenge results are the deciding factor.
In addition, the cultural challenge will have one overall winner based on the number of correct answers who will receive a 3 night stay at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort & Spa in Thailand.
The overall Anantara Adventure Challenge team champions will win a Maldives Discovery package of 4 nights for two, divided between stays at Anantara Kihavah Villas Maldives and Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa. The champions will be crowned at the prize giving on Saturday 13thDecember, followed by a celebratory brunch held at Ingredients, Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara.
