ETIHAD "Putting" Challenge Returns To AL Wahda Mall

Etihad Airways is offering golf fans the chance to win tickets to its latest destination, Melbourne, with the return of the airline’s innovative golfing challenge for shoppers at one of Abu Dhabi’s leading shopping malls.

The challenge, one strand of Etihad’s diamond sponsorship of next week’s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship (ADGC), gives shoppers at Al Wahda Mall the opportunity to putt their way around a series of holes on a specially designed world map of Etihad’s 50 global destinations.

Every participant in each session of the “round the world” putting challenge at Al Wahda Mall will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of entry tickets to the ADGC, which takes place at Abu Dhabi Golf Club between 15 and 18 January 2009.

The putting challenge will take place at Al Wahda Mall from Wednesday 7 to Saturday 10 January and also at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in the public village area.

The competitors with the best score from each of four days at Al Wahda and the ADGC will be entered into a draw with the lucky winner receiving a pair of tickets to Melbourne in Australia, Etihad’s 51st destination, which launches on 29 March 2009.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president of marketing and product said: "This golfing challenge was a huge success last year and we are thrilled to bring this excitement back to town and give people in Abu Dhabi a chance to win air tickets to our new destination, Melbourne.

“We want to bring a taste of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship to shoppers at Al Wahda Mall and at the same time showcase Etihad’s expanding and impressive global flight network on the putting green.”

The four-day Abu Dhabi Golf Championship starts next Thursday 15 January, with the final round taking place on Sunday 18 January.

The Etihad putting challenge will be at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi from Wednesday 7 January until Saturday 10 January. On Wednesday the public can take part from 7 to 9 pm. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the sessions are from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
