DEWA Sponsors 13th Ramadan Forum
(17 July 2014)

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), said that DEWA’s participation in community events is led by its commitment to serve the community and the necessity for all government departments to work together to provide better services for citizens, residents and visitors of the UAE.

HE Al Tayer made these comments to announce DEWA’s support as a strategic sponsor of the 13th edition of the Ramadan Forum organised by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.

“In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support community activities in all fields, DEWA is keen to serve the society in different areas. The Ramadan Forum plays an important role in promoting and spreading the message of Islam globally. We engage with various segments of society to instil Islamic values and behaviours as well as our national heritage and culture, especially during the holy month of Ramadan,” said Al Tayer.

“Dubai Government aims to promote Dubai as a tourist destination during the summer and the holy month of Ramadan, while preserving Islamic values and UAE’s heritage and traditions. DEWA supports many cultural and religious events as part of its social responsibility. The Ramadan Forum is a platform which hosts some of the most prominent Islamic scholars in the Arab and Islamic worlds. The Forum promotes religious tourism in the emirate and provides accurate information about Islam to foreign communities,” he added.

The Forum organises lectures in different languages for expatriate communities to promote Islam and underline its virtues. Simultaneous interpretation into English is available for all lectures conducted in Arabic to cater to the non-Arab audience.

Besides the Ramadan tent in Muhaisnah area which accommodates 3,000 people per day over the course of the month of Ramadan, an additional “Ramadan Iftar” tent is also set up in Hor Al Anz, to accommodate 30,000 people, at an average of 1,000 per day. The Zabeel Hall at the World Trade Centre, hosts “isha” and “taraweeh” prayers.

‘Exhibition of Scientific Miracles in the Holy Quran’ is part of the 13th edition of the Ramadan Forum. The exhibition is a display of posters showcasing the verses related to scientific miracles in the Quran. Further, there is a photo exhibition outside the main hall for men and another one which is exclusive to women.
