The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced its support for "Zayed Giving Campaign 2014" organized by the Department of Presidential Affairs to mark the tenth death anniversary of the founder of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the builder of its renaissance late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. A special evening ceremony was be held on Tuesday 15th July at the Etihad Ballroom, Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
"The TRA places a great significance on charity and humanitarian work as it falls within the Authority's CSR program and ultimately contributes to strengthening the bonds of human solidarity. Our support also falls in line with UAE humanitarian trend adopted since it was established by the founding fathers who built a culture of giving to secure the nation's future. The scope of the UAE humanitarian strategy encapsulates the entire world and as a result, the UAE is recognised as a true leader in global humanitarian contributions," said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
"This campaign holds special significance since it carries the name of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who successfully fostered a culture of philanthropy among UAE citizens," he continued.
The campaign includes a review of the philanthropic journey of the UAE and sheds light on the key role played by the Emirati philanthropists in presenting new concepts of humanitarian work. On the other hand, the campaign contributes in encouraging Emirati youth to participate in this initiative through developing their spirit of volunteering and social responsibility which keeps with the vision and belief of the late Sheikh Zayed that the progress of nations is not measured by the wealth they own but by through its people and their culture and ability to take responsibility and preserve their national identity.
